- Jacksonville: University Blvd – Study (Acne Vaccine)
Acne vulgaris is one of the few diseases that is visible on our skin. A rogue strain of C. acnes bacteria can cause fluid to build-up in the skin, causing inflammation. Despite treatments dating back to ancient Egypt, most adolescents and nearly half of adults in the U.S. experience acne. Current treatments fail to provide a cure and effective prevention for acne, largely due to a decades-long stagnation of new medical treatments. Â
To address this lack of progress, Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research is conducting a clinical research study. We are evaluating an investigational vaccine targeting the acne-causing strain of C. acnes bacteria for its ability to treat moderate to severe acne.Â
You may be eligible to participate if you:Â
- Are 18-45 years oldÂ
- Have a diagnosis of moderate to severe acne vulgarisÂ
There are additional criteria to meet to qualify for this study. Volunteers who qualify for our study will receive study-related vaccine (or placebo) & medical exams at no cost, and a stipend for time and travel. No health insurance is required to participate.Â
